Over the last few years I’ve shared a lot of short tips and focused tutorials on the SP404 MK2, but this time I wanted to zoom out and show the entire process. I put together three SP livestream sessions showing exactly how I build a track on the SP404 from start to finish. Starting from raw samples, I go through sample chopping, pattern sequencing and arrangement, mixing, and finally performing the track live.
I also talk through different approaches to mixing and mastering, both inside the SP and when bringing a track into a DAW. The goal was to document a realistic workflow that fits into limited studio time and leads to finished, released music. This is a long, unedited look into SP404 beatmaking. I've put timestamps in the video description if you'd like to watch it in parts or follow along.
