At first glance, this little device looks more like a calculator than a music tool. But once you spend even a few minutes with it, it’s clear that the Woovebox Pro is doing something very different in the dawless groovebox music making world. Here's my first impressions after a month of use.

Over the last few years I’ve shared a lot of short tips and focused tutorials on the SP404 MK2, but this time I wanted to zoom out and show the entire process. I put together three SP livestream sessions showing exactly how I build a track on the SP404 from start to finish. Starting from raw samples, I go through sample chopping, pattern sequencing and arrangement, mixing, and finally performing the track live.

2025 was an amazing year for beatmaking. Creatively, the last year was all about downsizing my DAWless gear to the essentials, usually just one sampler and one synth. That approach worked well and helped me stay focused when time was tight. But it also made me realize how much great gear I already own that I’ve barely touched. Going forward, my goal is not to add more gear, but to use what I have more intentionally. Last year was the year of the sampler for me. This year, it
